In line with our socially responsible and eco business practices, we support The Girls Sustainability Initiative which focuses on providing young women & girls mentorship, education and empowering activities that bring the ideals of sustainability, friendship, and "green girl" power to their lives. With an emphasis on "sustainability" from the inside-out and vice versa, the Girls Initiative aims to create positive and enriching experiences geared towards the balance of "Inner and Outer Ecology." Wallflower Organic & Eco Festival - October 6, 2007 - Malibu, California - We had an amazing time at the Wallflower Organic & Eco Festival hosted by the Malibu Chamber of Commerce and Zero Impact Malibu. Eco Collective members: Pure Bamboo, KSSD & Deborah Lindquist joined forces with several other Eco Designers to create a memorable Eco Fashion Show hosted by our very own, Kristine Surla. In addition each of these members had their own individual booths during the Wallflower Organic & Eco Festival. Kristine Surla, Managing Director of Eco Umbrella, also spoke during the "Conscious Consumer" panel which was moderated by Robert Cramer from RCGreen. She was joined by fellow Eco Collective member, Bruce Dear from Pure Bamboo.
Social Venture Network Fall Conference World Changing Ideas: Innovation in Action - October 11-14, 2007 - La Jolla, California - During this amazing Conference, participants explored "new ideas and innovations that have the potential to change the world." Ten of the most forward thinking companies such as Nau, Terracycle, World of Good, New Resources Bank (to name a few), were awarded the SVN Innovation Award for their "breakthrough ideas" that "represent a new generation of leaders." The conversations were not only thoughtful, they were authentic and real. The caliber of SVN Members and the participants at the SVN "World Changing Ideas: Innovation in Action" Conference was unprecedented. The whole event was "inspirational, moving and unforgettable!" Eco Umbrella would like to THANK SVN for welcoming us with open hearts and minds and their continued & amazing leadership in this arena celebrating their 20th Year Anniversary in 2007.
FWN Women's Summit in Washington D.C. focused on Women's Empowerment - October 25-27, 2007 - Washington D.C. - Managing Director of Eco Umbrella Kristine Surla was part of the National Steering Committee and led a panel of Image & Media experts during the "Crafting the Filipina Image" Session. She was joined by International News Bureau Chief of ABS-CBN, Regina "Ging" Reyes; Award winning Author of Surreality, Carissa Villacorta; MultiMedia Expert Lorna Dietz; and a representative of the Cultural Affairs Division of the ABS-CBN Foundation Keesa Ocampo.
Co-Op America's Green Business Conference - November 6-9, 2007 - San Francisco, CA
Eco Umbrella convened with leading Green Businesses from across the United States in San Francisco with KeyNote Speakers Simran Sethi, Host & Writer of Sundance Channel's The Green & Environmental Correspondent for NBC News; Sara Snow, Green Living Expert & TV Host of Discovery Health; and Bryan Welch, Publisher & Editorial Director of Ogden Publications which brings to life Mother Earth News & Utne among its publications. Inspiring, thought provoking and important topics covered during the conference included "The Role of Green Business in Climate Change", "Green Media 2.0: Optimism & Authenticity", "Growing Businesses with Social Impact."
Global Exchange & Co-Op America's SF Green Festival - November 9-11 - SF, CA
We also attended the SF Green Festival, the "largest Green Event & Exhibition ever" with over 400 green businesses participating and thousands of people focused on Authentic Consciousness raising activities, speakers, products, services, businesses and organizations in attendance. Among the amazing speakers was legendary Paul Hawken!
Hollywood Goes Green Kick-Off Party - November 13 - LivingHomes Site, CA
With the wonderful venue at Founder of Living Homes own sustainable and Platinum LEED Certified Home, the evening was filled with VeeV spirits, H2OM and delicious Vegetarian & Indian fare.

MBA and law students joined in an evening of lively conversation filled with advice, inspiration, and guidance during the first Social Entrepreneurship Discussion of the year, which was cohosted by the Pepperdine Entrepreneurship Club. Speakers included the founder of Earth Friendly Moving, founder of the Lili Clare Foundation, and the founder of Eco Umbrella.

Young Women Social Entrepreneurs LA Launch Party - December 12 - Hollywood Hills
YWSE.org launched their Los Angeles Chapter in partnership and collaboration with local LA Non-Profit A Place Called Home's Annual Toy Drive. The women of YWSE-LA along with guests, trustees and mentors from A Place Called Home and the wonderful VeeV mixologists and their Founders were on hand to help celebrate and raise 3 "truck loads" full of toys by the end of a fabulous, fun-filled, and inspirational evening.
